About OWT

Ottapalam is a scenic little town, located on the banks of the river Bharathapuzha in Palakkad district, Kerala. Ottapalam Welfare Trust (OWT) is based in this municipality, with its reach extending beyond Ottapalam, to the districts of Palakkad, Thrissur and Malappuram.

OWT is a charitable trust set up in 2001, by a small group of people from different walks of life, who came together with a common dream of giving back to their community. OWT serves mainly the less privileged, with emphasis on women, children, elderly.

The work at the Trust focuses on two key areas – healthcare and livelihood. It involves the community at large, such as the individuals, local government bodies and health professionals, in its efforts to bring in greater well being within the community.


To actively serve the less privileged people in Ottapalam and surrounding areas, by providing services that promote individual dignity and well being, and contribute to the health and vitality of the community.

Eye care services:

  • State-of-the-art eye hospital, serving those within a 20-mile radius
  • Free eye camps, free eye surgeries for those who are below poverty line

Palliative Care:

  • Helping the less privileged patients who have either a long term non curable disease, or those who are terminally ill

Early cancer detection programme:

  • Conducting awareness programmes and screening camps in Palakkad and Thrissur districts

Clinic and Diagnostic Laboratory:

  • Full fledged laboratory, mammogram, ultrasound, X ray facilities
  • Free outpatient clinic twice a week
  • On site general physicians
